Just to get a topic going, here's what I have to read for summer reading this year. Has anyone else read any of these books, and what do you have to read?
English: Black Boy by Richard Wright, The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Emma by Jane Austen, and Frankenstien by Mary Shelley
Government: All the President's Men by Carl Bernstein, and Hardball by Chris Mathews
So far I found all the English books through Nls and am still looking for the History books.

I'm reading a few books for pleasure this summer, well one's for self-help. J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion and Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon are for pleasure and I choose not to reveal the name of the self-help book.

Hey. I've read Emma and Frankenstein in school in the last couple of years. They're pretty good, and I'll be curious to see what you think. Jane Austen has her fans, and her nonfans; it really depends on what kind of literature you like. I'll admit I didn't read all of Frankenstein, but I suggest you do. Our class liked it. I'll actually be reading it again this year as a Frosh in college. For college summer reading, I just finished Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in (or maybe it was of) Books. It's by azar Nafisi, who is an Iranian who taught a class secretly in her own house to a group of women about books and authors who were banned at the time. It takes place between 1995-7, so it's interesting to be able to parallel the events of my life with those in the book. I highly recommend this book because it was really interesting. It's available on bookshare, for anyone who's a member. Sorry for the rant.

Hi. I'm going into high school as a freshman, and I've never had any summer reading yet, but I love to read. Um ... well I guess I should ramble on about my favorite books in the book nook, but I love reading. Everybody should read!

Hay folkx. This is commanderlumpy. I haven't loged on in a while. One of my favorite books I read in Highschool was 1984. I will admit, I was pissed off at human nature when I was done with the book. During that year in High School, I also had to read 500 pages a quarter. I kind of got out of it easy. I would just listen to a novel on tape, and take the Braille Book to class every Friday, and just rub my fingers along the pages. it was quite amuzing to make the teacher think I ws reading. I will say this though. I learned to like reading a lot after that. I will be starting college soon.

It’s January now, but last two summers we had to read things. I am pretty sure our summer read might be the Great Gatsby or something I saw it on the list last time I checked it.

Freshmen summerread:
Tom Sawyer
And we got to choose the second one from a list, and I chose Fahrenheit451.
Sophomore reads
The Good Earth (very painful)
The Pearl
Things falling Apart
